As 2025 comes to a close, I have much to be thankful for as I’m the first in three generations, maybe four, to see a grandchild. It’s humbling and despite the many issues in our world today, I remain positive that young William will have better opportunities then those before him. Just eight decades ago, the world was in true dire straits. So I urge everyone to embrace your family and friends this holiday season and in 2026, focus on what you can control, stay positive and fight complacency.

William Beale Tinsley joined the Beale Educational team August 26, 2025, 66 years and 8 days after its founder breathed his first breath. Exciting times! Education has changed quite a bit in 66 years and Beale Educational Services has been there assisting educators for 36 of those, starting in 1989. I’m old but I know things so let’s have a conversation at VAASL. I’ll be hanging around Booth 202 with my focus the same as it ever was...helping you get the best content at the best value for your students.

And their little brother! Books, they love books, so they keep me in the game, at least for now. I’ve represented educational publishers for 35 years and supported VEMA/VAASL by exhibiting at the Fall and Spring conferences all those years. So, swing by Booths 202 and 204 at the Williamsburg Lodge on the 7th and 8th to see why you should be taking advantage of ordering direct in lieu of simply using a book jobber. As an old man has said a time or two: “Don’t whine about your budget, if you’re not willing to learn how to stretch it.”

That’s right, assisting educators and students thumps a fine fishing trip. I’ll be at six of the seven VAASL regional conferences and VSLA.
